OXFORD, Ohio – Six Miami senior swimmers will be recognized this weekend on Saturday, Feb. 7, when the RedHawks host Ball State at 1 p.m. in the Nixon Aquatic Center.
Seniors Joe Baumgartner, Sam Crockett, Michael Heavilon, Andrew Kilkenny, Dan Nemeth, and Heshan Unamboowe will be honored with Senior Day Ceremonies.
Miami returns to the pool after falling to Mid-American Conference opponent Eastern Michigan,
181-110, at Eastern Michigan. The RedHawks are 2-4 in dual meets for the season and 0-2 in the MAC thus far.
Baumgartner swam well for the RedHawks with his first-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 20.71. Baumgartner clocked a time of 45.82 in the 100-yard freestyle, earning him second. He also swam a leg of the 400-yard relay along with sophomore Jack Strauss, freshman Ross Westrick, and junior Christopher Dieter.
Freshman Ross Rybakwicz swam to a first-place finish in the 200-yard IM, touching the wall at 1:58.89. Rybakwicz also took third in the 200-yard butterfly with his time of 1:54.52.
In the diving competition, junior Michael Nash earned first place in the one meter with 293.4 points. Nash also competed in the three-meter competition where he tallied 343.8 points, earning him second.
Ball State is coming off a sixth-place finish in the Butler Invitational on Jan. 25. The Cardinals fell in a recent dual meet to Milwaukee, 171-71, on Jan. 23.
Last season, Miami defeated Ball State, 135-93, at Ball State in the Lewellen Aquatic Center.
