POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The women’s swimming & diving team defeat MAAC rival Fairfield, with a score of 176-124, on Saturday.

HIGHLIGHTS

• The relay team of Genevieve O’Neil, Lucie Gray, Sophia Swanson, and Nellie Thompson  placed first in the 400 medley (3:57.45).
• Thompson took home the 50 free (24.86) and the 100 free (54.21).
• Madeline Healey was victorious in the 1,000 free (10:43.61) and the 500 free (5:21.97).
• Leigh-Anne Zanella finished in first place in the 200 butterfly (2:11.16) and second place in the 1,000 free (10:48.49).
• Madison Sweeney captured the 3-meter dive, and placed second in the 1-meter event.

RECORDS

• The women’s team evens their record to 2-2, and 2-1 in conference play.
• Fairfield loses their first contest of the season, dropping their record to 3-1, and 0-1 against MAAC opponents.

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist men’s swimming and diving team defeated Fairfield, 150.5 to 147.5, on Saturday at McCann Natatorium.

HIGHLIGHTS

• James Conable took home the 1,000 free (9:41.16), the 500 free (4:41.24), and also captured the 200 IM (1:54.33).
• Ahmed Sallam finished first in the 50 free (21.19) and the 100 free (46.71).
• Adam Kapusta prevailed in the 200 butterfly (1:54.54) and the 200 backstroke (1:56.64).
• Sean Doran placed first in the 100 backstroke (52.16) and second in the 200 backstroke (1:57.46).

RECORDS

• Marist boosts its record to 2-2 on the season, and 2-1 in MAAC play.
• Fairfield loses its first contest of the season, bringing them to 3-1, and 0-1 versus MAAC opponents.

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Fairfield University men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams each dropped their first dual meet of the season as Marist College completed a sweep this afternoon in its home pool. The men’s team was edged out by the Red Foxes by a 150.5 to 147.5 margin while the women’s team fell by a 176-124 score.

The two teams combined for nine first-place finishes with both the men’s team garnering five and the women’s team taking four firsts. Erini Pappas and Chris Ford each won two events to pace the Stags while each team won a relay race during the meet.

Pappas took the top spot in the 100 back and the 200 back, timing out in 58.50 in the 100 and 2:07.41 in the 200. Ford captured first-place swims in both breaststroke events, taking the 100 with the only sub-minute time of 58.37. He followed up with a win in the 200 by completing the distance in 2:08.99.

The men’s team swept the 200 free with Tim Regan touching the wall first with his time of 1:43.96. Peter Gori followed him with his swim of 1:45.60 to complete the team’s sweep. Hans Lim was the other men’s swimmer to gain a first-place finish, setting the pace in the 100 fly with his time of 52.58.

In addition to Pappas, Alexis Gaulin gained a first-place finish when she won the 1 meter dive, collecting 216 points. She came back to take second place in the 3 meter dive with her 211.35 point, just six points off the top point total.

Sam Tonole and Noah Duncan each took a second-place finish to represent the men’s divers. Tonole registered 205.73 points through his rotation which just over a point off the winning point total of 207.00 points. Duncan recorded 206.70 points in the 3 meter dive, trailing the top point total of 217.58.

The women’s 200 free relay posted the best time in the event, combining for a time of 1:38.81. The team consisted of Erini Pappas, Olivia Thompson, Sydney Scalise, and Serafina Viola. The men’s 400 medley relay matched that placement with its time of 2:14.65 behind the efforts of Oliver McLaughlin, Hans Lim, Evan Fair, and Alexey Belfer.

The Fairfield University men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams will now prepare for the Terrier Invitational which takes place over three days on the Boston University campus. The event begins on November 18 and runs through November 20. After the Terrier Invitational, the Stags will compete in the US Open from November 30 to December 3 which takes place in Greensboro, N.C.
