Liberty Picks Up Verbal From Wisconsin State Champ Kiah Francis

Liberty University has picked up a verbal commitment from Kiah Francis, a Rhinelander, Wisconsin native. Francis is homeschooled, but competes for Rhinelander High School during the high school swimming season, and has been swimming club with the Wausau TIDE for the last 7 years.

Francis on her commitment:

“I am grateful and blessed to attend school at Liberty and swim with their hard-working, close-knit team. Coach Jake and Coach Jessica have built an incredibly successful and unique program with a bright future. I cannot wait for the experiences and opportunities this new journey will bring!! Go Flames!”

Francis is a WIAA D2 state runner up in the 100 yard breast and 200 yard IM. She’s also had recent success in the long course pool, swimming to her 2nd straight Wisconsin Swimming state title in the 200 meter breast before qualifying for 2016 summer Junior Nationals and making the C-final in the 100 breast.

Francis’ Top Times:

Event Best Time
50 free 24.07
100 free 52.36
100 fly 57.23
100 breast 1:03.83
200 breast 2:19.23
200 IM 2:06.00
400 IM 4:27.52

Her yards bests in the 100 breast (1:03.83), 200 breast (2:19.23), and 400 IM (4:27.52) are already good enough to have qualified for the A-final at last season’s CCSA Championships. She also has personal bests times that would’ve been good enough to score at the conference meet in the 200 IM (2:06.00), 100 free (52.36), and 100 fly (57.23).

Francis will join the current CCSA runner-ups when she arrives on campus next fall, and will add depth in a variety of areas as they work towards a conference championship.
