15 year old Emily Large, who won the 200 butterfly at the most recent European Junior Swimming Championships, collected her fourth gold medal of the British Summer Championships on the final day of competition. Large won the 15 year old women’s 100 butterfly in a time of 59.65. She just missed the British age group record of 59.57 set by Amelia Clynes. It is the first time that Large has gone under a minute for the event coming into the competition with a lifetime best of 1:00.16, which she posted at the British Championships in April. Her time was also the fastest of all the competitors of any age at the Championships.

With that win she swept the three butterfly events as well as taking gold in the 400 IM

Jay Lelliott won his second event of the competition taking the men’s 200 freestyle in a time of 1:48.71. Lelliott also collected gold in the 1500 freestyle and added a silver in the 400 freestyle.

One of the most exciting races of the evening was the women’s 19 and over 100 breaststroke. Jocelyn Ulyett led the event from start to finish, but was chased down by Sara Vasey who just came short of overtaking her for the win. Ulyett took the event in a time of 1:08.53 followed by Vasey who touched in a time of 1:08.57.

Hatfield ended up atop of the medal standings winning nine gold, five silver and one bronze. They were followed by Plymouth Leander who collected eight gold, two silver and two bronze.
