Dawson Sets Second Scottish Record at British Summer Championships

After breaking the Scottish national record in the 200 backstroke on Friday Kathleen Dawson returned to the pool to set another national record in the 50 backstroke. Dawson took the event at the British Summer Championships in a time of 28.20 breaking the record of 28.47, which she shared with Lucy Hope.

Her time puts her just outside the world’s top 25 in the event.

Oliver Hynd set a new paraswimming world record in the men’s multi-class 400 freestyle. Hynd (S8) won the event in a time of 4:23.76 well below the world record of 4:26.25 set by Samuel Hynd in 2008.

Holly Hibbott, who came second in the women’s 400 freestyle at the European Junior Championships , took the event in 17-18 year age group in a time of 4:09.91. Joe Litchfield, who won gold in the men’s 200 IM at the European Junior Championships, took the event 17-18 year age group posting a time of 2:02.24.

Another gold medalist from the European Junior Championships, Thomas Fannon, won the men’s 17-18 50 freestyle in a time of 22.55 not far off his age group national record of 22.24, which he set in April.
