Krista Duffield of Tucson Ford Dealers Aquatic has verbally committed to North Carolina State.
Duffield is primarily a sprinter; as a junior, she was 4th at the Arizona High School State Championship meet in the 50 free with a 23.85; 5th in the 100 fly with a 56.3; and also led off Catalina Foothills’ 400 free relay in 52.4 and split a 23.1 on a 200 free relay anchor.
Her yards times are good, but she has one really eye-catching long course time from the summer that surely caught the attention of a lot of college coaches. She was a 26.28 in the long course 50 free at the Western Sectional Championship meet in Oregon, which ranked her as the 16th-best 16-year old in the country last season.
The Wolfpack women had a great sprint group last year, with 5 women (including three underclassmen) under 23 seconds on a flat start.
