Kansas HS Champ Blomquist to Remain Local with Verbal to Jayhawks

Crissie Blomquist has verbally committed to the University of Kansas. A senior at Shawnee Mission East High School in Prairie Village, Kansas, she was a major contributor to the Lady Lancers’ team title at the 2016 Kansas 6A Team State Championships. Blomquist won gold in both the 200 and 500 freestyle events, and was part of Shawnee Mission East’s two winning relays, the 4×50 free and 4×100 free. Blomquist holds school records in the 100, 200, and 500 freestyles individually, and is part of the 200 and 400 free relay quartets.

Blomquist swims year-round for Empire Kansas City Swim Club under head coach Bobby Mattin. She is a junior national qualifier in the 200, 400, and 800 freestyle events and is a two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All American. Blomquist won the 800m free and was an A finalist in both the 400 free (2nd) and 200 free (5th) at the Columbia Sectionals in July.
