We are seeking a Head Swim Coach to oversee all aspects of our swimming programs, including direct coaching responsibilities. The overall objective of the position is to continue to guide and grow our swimming program to produce the highest attainable levels of competitive excellence in individual and team performance. It is expected that the Head Swim Coach will foster positive relationships, mentor as appropriate, collaborate effectively with other program head coaches (Diving and Water Polo) and communicate well with their own coaching staff, swim team members, parents, and the club’s Board of Directors. Essential Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the Head Swim Coach for the team’s competitive swim program to include Age Group, Masters, and Learn to Swim.
    • Develop and implement comprehensive training programs across all team/group levels tailored to the needs and abilities of individual swimmers/groups focusing on skill development, tactical knowledge, and physical fitness. Provide personalized coaching and feedback to individual athletes to help them achieve their maximum potential. Organize and lead regular team practices, to enhance team cohesion and performance.  The position will require working weeknight practices and some weekend practices/meets with participation in meets at a local, regional, state, and national levels. Supervise and maintain a positive practice and meet environments.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive team culture, emphasizing sportsmanship, teamwork, and respect among athletes, coaches, and support staff.  Build a positive atmosphere through team-work and fun.
  • Collaborate with the directors of Diving and Water Polo programs to ensure adequate pool time for each program.
  • Manage day-to-day operating issues, including (but not limited to):
    • Facilities procurement with Lyons Township High School
    • Organize weekly staff meetings, provide ongoing feedback to coaches, and conduct formal annual performance reviews of staff.
    • Plan team practice schedules and meet schedules, including team and coaches travel, meet entry assignments, and other meet administrative duties
    • Evaluate training plans with the age group lead coaches to encourage swimmers to develop short and long-range goals

    • Assisting swimmers in understanding potential college swimming opportunities and provide recommendations as requested.

Georgia Swimming Camp is looking for camp coaches for 2024. The Bulldog Swim camp traditionally runs around 400 Campers over 2 weeks and is broken into a morning and afternoon training session. The camp website is Georgiaswimcamps.com which includes all the information about camp structure.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Coaching a station or group during each session as well as supervising the campers.
  2. Staying in the UGA dorms and eating with the campers during meal time.
  3. Participating in camp activities and have a general supervisory role at all times.
  4. Working with UGA staff during the day.
  5. Complete all training modules and participate in pre camp zoom calls.
  6. Provide a positive, fun and safe environment for all campers.

Salary is by the day and can be supplemented with private lessons if desired. There are options for working either one or both weeks of camp. Week 1 is  June 2nd-8th and week 2 is June 9th-June 15th.

We have a lot of return staff each year and we try a provide a great opportunity for the camp coaches to mingle with the UGA staff and others to gain ideas and expand their network. Once staff positions are filled we will add you to the waiting list and contact you if/when slots open up.

About the Role

Essential Job Functions:

Leading Aquatics Teams

  • Utilizes interpersonal and communication skills to lead, motivate, and encourage others; advocates sound financial/business decision making; demonstrates honesty/integrity; leads by example.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum three years’ experience in an Aquatics operational leadership capacity.
  • Proven experience in recruiting, hiring, training, developing and supervising a team of at least 50 staff.
  • Positive 3-5 year history of leadership in the areas of staff management, program development, and fiscal budgeting.
  • Expertise in conducting training for: lifeguards, swim instructors, First Aid, CPR, and Administering Emergency Oxygen.

Technical Skills and Certifications
