Just last June, we reported on the bizarre road rage incident, which left Danish Olympic swimmer Jeanette Ottesen and her boyfriend, Marco Loughran, injured. In an update to the case, the instigator of the alleged attack received his punishment from the Danish legal system yesterday.
According to the reports at the time, Ottesen described the altercation as having started via an alleged attacker who was angered because he thought she was driving too slowly. This led to the driver exiting his car and allegedly beating Loughran, leaving him with a head gash, split eyebrow and broken teeth. Ottesen suffered injuries to her finger.
Now, two months later, the Danish justice system has spoken, laying a punishment of 80 hours of community service and a fine of 5000 DKK (approximately 750 USD) upon the attacker.
Not pleased with the outcome of her case, Ottesen took to Facebook to express her dissatisfaction. “I’m almost ashamed to live in a country like Denmark….the man got away with a little reprimand, so he has really learned not to increase violence against innocent people (not).” She does thank everyone for support during the entire ordeal.
