Jamieson Named BUCS (British Collegiate) Sportsman of the Year

Great Britain international swimmer Michael Jamieson has been named the British University and college Sports (BUCS) Sportsman of the year, in honor of his Olympic silver medal at the 2012 London Games in the 200 meter breaststroke.

Jamieson is a Sports Performance graduate at the University of Bath, and currently trains at the Intensive Training Center housed there under Graeme Antwhistle.

“I’m delighted to have been named BUCS sportsman of the year,” Jamieson said of the announcement. “I owe a lot of thanks to the University for their support in the past few years, without whom I would not have had the performance results. The facilities at the Sports Training Village are world class, as are the support staff.”

Jamieson also broke the BUCS Record in the 200 Short Course Meters breaststroke at their 2012 Short Course Championship meet with a 2:06.65, and added a win in the 100 in 59.62. He didn’t compete at the long course championship in February of this year.
