Columbus, Ohio’s Gabriel Finch has verbally committed to swim for Iona College in New Rochelle, New York beginning next fall. Finch is a senior at Thomas Worthington High School, where he swims free, back, fly, and IM.
“I am proud to announce my commitment to Iona College! I felt right at home the second I stepped on campus and met the team. The coaches Nick and Tony made it clear early on they wanted a MAAC championship and I can’t wait to be a part of that! Go Gaels!”
Finch represented Worthington High at the 2016 Ohio Division I Central District Championships last February, swimming in the 100 back and 100 fly. He also swims year-round for Worthington Swim Club and was the 2015 Ohio Senior Meet champion in the 200 IM. Finch had a strong showing throughout his junior year, significantly improving across the board and posting new times in all his best events. During short course he earned PRs in 50 free, 100/200 back, 100/200 fly, and 200/400 IM. This summer he achieved best LCM times in the 50/400m free, 100/200m back, 100/200m breast, 100m fly, and 200m IM.
