Florida continued to show its depth on day two of the Georgia Tech invitational, and while they may not have the top seed in every event, they qualified a number of their swimmers for finals.
Chelsea Tatlow of Arkansas dropped almost 11 seconds for to take the number one seed in the women’s 400 IM. Tatlow swam a 4:13.71 in prelims, four seconds faster than Taylor Katz of Florida, who was 4:17.96. Megan Rankin, also of Florida, was 4:18.08 for the third seed, followed by her teammate Jordan Smith in 4:18.09.
The men’s 400 IM was almost an all Florida A final if it Michael Kenny of Georgia Tech and Kyle Doxtater of Florida State had not finished sixth and eighth respectively. Eduardo Solaeche-Gomez is the number one seed with a 3:53.45.
Chelsea Britt of Florida State holds the top seed in the women’s 100 fly with a 53.63. Emma Svensson of FGCU was second in the morning with a 54.12.
Georgia Tech’s Andrew Kosic and Ben Southern are seeded first and second in the 100 fly with a 46.79 and a 47.46, respectively.
Anna Mayfield and Maddie Monroe of Arkansas are the top two seeds in the women’s 200 freestyle. Mayfield swam a 1:46.84 and Monroe swam a 1:47.90. Florida did not qualify a swimmer for the A final.
They did, however, have the top time in the men’s 200 free. Justin Kaisrlik swam a 1:37.38 to take the top seed, ahead of his teammates Mitch D’Arrigo (1:37.38) and Pawel Werner (1:37.73).
Arkansas got another top seed in the 100 breast, Nikki Daniels is dangerously close to the NCAA A cut (59.12) after her 59.58 performance this morning. Florida State’s Jason Coombs is seeded first in the men’s breaststroke with a 54:08.
FGCU’s Kira Toussaint holds the top seed in the women’s 100 backstroke with a 53.57. Corey Main of Florida holds the top seed in the men’s 100 backstroke with a 48.73.
