The American Swim Coaches Association is hosting its 2014 World Clinic this week in Jacksonville, Florida, and Friday night will see the induction of its new class of Hall of Fame members. Among them is former Michigan State Spartans head coach Dick Fetters.
Though we haven’t been able to find a listing of the full Hall of Fame class, the Michigan State University Swimming and Diving Facebook page shared the above photo of Fetters with this caption:
Congratulations to Coach Richards Fetters for being part of the ASCA Hall of Fame class of 2014. The induction ceremony is tomorrow night in Jacksonville, Fl. Photo credit: Paul Fetters
Fetters was a lifelong coach, leading high school programs in Florida and Indiana before taking over at Michigan State from 1970 to 1987. He retired to South Carolina, but quickly re-engaged with swimming, starting the Beaufort Masters program, where he continued coaching for 20 more years.
Coach Fetters, Thanks for you dedication to the sport and to our team. I do really
miss the guilt free Thanksgiving dinners after your annual pre holiday workouts.
