TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida State swimming and diving teams will open the 2019-20 season on the road on Oct. 4 against Notre Dame at the Rolfs Aquatic Center at 5 p.m.
“We’re excited to head to Notre Dame to start our season,” FSU head coach Neal Studd said. “We will be up against a very good team with our young squad.”
The meet will consist of 16 events featuring 100’s and 200’s of each stroke in addition to the 50 free, 500 free, 1000 free, 200 IM, 200 medley relay and 400 free relay. The divers will compete on both 1-meter and 3-meter springboards.
Both teams are 1-1 against the Fighting Irish in the all-time series, having faced each other on the road on Nov. 12, 1993 (M,W – 132.5-98.5, W,W – 137-106) and at home on Jan. 20, 2018 (M, L, 162-191, W, L – 160-193).
Live results will be available on the meet mobile app. This will be the first meet of the season for both schools.
The Seminoles are looking to build off of a historic season where the men’s team finished 14th at the NCAA Championships, fueled by three All-American relay performances. The men return seven that competed at NCAAs last season.
The women’s team turned in one of the best dual meet records in program history at 11-1 and improved to finish sixth at the ACC Championships, scoring the most points at the meet since 2014.
Last season Notre Dame’s women posted an undefeated record of 10-0-1 and had 15 women competed at the NCAA Championships. Four men represented the Irish in 2018-19 at the NCAA Championships with all four returning for this season.
