IRVING, Texas – FIU swimmer Christie Chue and diver Paige Burrell were named the American Athletic Conference Swimmer & Diver of the week, as announced by the conference office Tuesday afternoon.
Chue shined in the tri-meet vs reigning DII National Champs Nova Southeastern & Lynn this past weekend she tallied six first-place finishes, including four individual first-place finishes. The senior had a time of 2:15.63 for the 200-yard breaststroke, top time in the AAC. She finished first in the 200-yard IM, for a time of 2:04.24, second best time in the American. She then shined on the 100-yard freestyle as her time of 51.44, is 2nd in the AAC while she placed first in the 100-yard IM for a time of 57.44, that is top in the AAC.
Burrell, the fifth-year student, tallied two first place finishes including scoring a 308.25 for the three-meter event vs FGCU/Indian River this past Saturday. Her score qualified her for the NCAA Zones three-meter, her second zone qualifier of the year. Burrell as recorded a first place finish on the one-meter for a score of 300.35. She finished third on the platform last Friday for a score of 187.50.
