Learning the Finishing Kick

We’ve all been at that point in a race where everything falls apart. What do you do? You breath. In reality, you should have been breathing early in the race and you might not be in so much pain. Focusing on the breath not only gets much needed oxygen to the muscles, it also creates a rhythm with your stroke.

Larry Arnold has been working with the Senior 1 group at Phoenix Swim Club on doing all movements through the breath. The benefits of dryland are a hot topic amongst coaches. How can anyone argue that learning how to use the breath doesn’t help any athlete?

This clip is from about 40 minutes in to our weekly dryland session with Larry. He’s not interested in their dancing, he just wanted to create fatigue and make them use that breath to keep rhythm.
