INDIANAPOLIS – IUPUI swimming and diving head coach Damion Dennis has announced the hiring of Ethan Curl as an assistant coach for the program. Curl joins IUPUI after spending the last season as a volunteer assistant coach at the University of Kentucky.

“I am excited to join Damion’s staff and continue to build this program,” said Curl. “I want to thank Dr. Roderick PerryJohn Rasmussen and Damion for their belief in my abilities and the great opportunity. I can’t wait to meet the team and start working with them.”

Curl was a four-year letter winner at Indiana University, specializing in distance freestyle. While at Indiana he was a member of two BigTen Conference Championship teams in 2017 and 2018. Curl was an Olympic Trials qualifier in 2016 and qualified for the World Championships Trials in 2017.

“I’m excited to welcome to Ethan to IUPUI,” said Dennis. “From our first conversation, I knew Ethan would be a great fit for our team, our culture and our future. He brings a rich swimming background with him that will instantly & positively impact our program.”

After graduation from Indiana with degree in Sport Marketing and Management, Curl spent time in the front offices of the Miami Marlins and Florida Panthers from 2018-2020. In his one year on the coaching staff at Kentucky, Curl helped the Wildcats women’s team win its first SEC Championship in team history.
