Dynamo Swim Club’s Zachary Zhao has committed to Division III powerhouse Emory for fall 2021. He’s a senior at Lakeside High School in the Atlanta area.

Zhao is a high-impact addition for the Eagles, with strength in the breaststroke, IM and distance free events. At the 2021 Georgia HS 6A State Championships last month, he went 56.68 for third in the 100 breast and 1:51.63 for fifth in the 200 IM. He then set new lifetime bests in both breaststrokes and the 200 IM at the Georgia Senior Championships two weekends ago.
Last season, Zhao would’ve ranked third on Emory’s roster in the 200 breast, 1650 free and 200 IM as well as fourth in the 100 breast. At the 2020 UAA Championships, he would’ve been fast enough to make A-finals in both breaststrokes and both IMs.
Zhao joins Jeff Echols in Emory’s incoming class.
