The South Carolina women have reeled in another verbal commitment, as Dynamo Swim Club’s Rebecca Cohen has announced her intention to join the Gamecocks next fall. Cohen will head to USC after graduating from North Springs High School.

On her commitment:

I am so thrilled and excited to announce that I have committed to swim for the University of South Carolina. The second I stepped on campus I knew it was the perfect fit. The amazing team and coaching staff made me feel right at home and I could not be more pumped to be joining them as a gamecock next year!

Cohen is primarily a backstroker, with bests of 57.72 and 2:00.60 in the 100 back and 200 back respectively, but she also shows promise in the IM events. Last season, Cohen was a championships finalist at the Georgia High School Association 1-5A State Meet. There, she swam to a 7th place finish in the 100 back and a 13th place finish in the 200 IM.

Cohen’s Top Times:

Event Best time
100 back 57.72
200 back 2:00.60
200 IM 2:09.93
400 IM 4:29.43

At South Carolina, Cohen will join a training group that includes Paige Maynard and McKenna Keith, who swam backstroke at SECs as a freshmen last season. She’ll also be training alongside Heather Merritt, who was narrowly outside of scoring range in the 200 back at the SEC meet.
