Hayley Taylor, a current high school senior from Frederick, Maryland, has committed to swim for Division I Duquesne University in Pittsburgh. Taylor will graduate from Oakdale High School in spring 2021 join the Dukes’ class of 2025.
Taylor currently swims for the Monocacy Aquatic Club where she is a Futures and Winter Juniors qualifier. At the most recent Futures meet, Taylor swam best times in all of her qualifying events.
At the 2019 Speedo Champions Series – Christiansburg, she placed 8th in the 200 backstroke (2:05.00). More recently at the 2020 Maryland Swimming Senior Short Course Championships, Taylor won the 100 backstroke with a time of 55.16 and placed 3rd in the 200 backstroke (2:00.82.)
“I was recruited by about 40 D1 schools but Duquesne stood out largely because of Coach David Sheets, who had just the right touch for me and offering a world class education. No legacy attachment. I hope to help the Dukes retake the A10 conference and make NCAA’s as a freshman.”

At the 2020 A-10 Championships with the Dukes, Taylor would have placed 6th in the 200 backstroke (1:59.14), 10th in the 100 backstroke (55.31) and 16th in the 200 freestyle (1:51.88) with her current best times.
At the A-10 Championships, the Duquesne women placed 3rd overall under the leadership of Coach David Sheets. Additionally, two team members were given CSCAA Scholar All-American honors, two were nominated as NCAA Women of the year and 10 were awarded with Academic All-Conference honors.
