The 2025 Edinburgh International Swim Meet kicks off March 14th with a large British contingent set to take to the Royal Commonwealth Pool. There will be a sprinkling of foreign talent with which to contend as well, with Belgium, the Netherlands, and more bringing swimmers to join the party.
This competition represents a tune-up opportunity before the all-important Aquatics GB Championships. That meet in April represents the sole qualifying opportunity for British swimmers to make the World Championships squad.
As such, we’re not expecting any crazy-fast results from this in-season meet but that doesn’t mean we can’t get excited for what’s about to unfold.
Notable Entries:
- Olympic multi-medalist Duncan Scott is opting out of the 200m free but is still entered in 4 events, including the 100m free,, 100m/200m fly and 200m IM.
- Scott’s gold medal-winning relay mate James Guy is taking on the 400m free once again this season after having already raced the event in Sheffield and at LC BUCS.
- 2020 Olympic champion in the 200m free Tom Dean is entered in the men’s 100m free only.
- Freya Colbert, 2024 world champion, has a packed schedule which includes the 100m/200m free, 100m/200m back and 400m IM.
- Dutch Olympian Marrit Steenbergen has added the 100m back to her freestyle lineup.
