The Dolphins have arrived in Chartres, France for their staging camp ahead of the Paralympic Games.

With 30 athletes and 7 coaches in camp, preparations have commenced for the Games which start on 28 August at Paris La Defense stadium, the same venue as the swimming was held in for the Commonwealth Games.

Swimming Australia’s Paralympic Performance Coach and Paris Head Coach Greg Towle answered questions around the teams travel and arrival into France, what he expects the team to get out of the staging camp, and who some of the young athletes are to watch as the countdown to Paris continues.

“We’ve been here a couple of years now and really feel at home here. The set up is amazing and the weather is fantastic so really looking forward to the week ahead.”

“We’ve really done a great job refining the processes leading into this and having been here a few times they’ve travelled exceptionally well, we’re really pleased with everyone, no little niggles or anything to talk about so everyone is in a good frame of mind and looking forward to what lays ahead.”

“We’re really blessed, I mean we’ve got people like Brenden Hall who’s five times Games and Ahmed Kelly four times and then we obviously have the rookies so they’ve actually been really great at reinforcing their processes, what they need to do and we’ve really made it individualised for them so that’s where Chartres is so good is that it allows everyone of our athletes to do what they need and to prepare for themselves so really proud of the way they are looking after what they need and working together with their coaches and staff and athletes.”
