Direct Sales of 2016 Olympic Games Tickets Opens Today

There are a total 7.5 million tickets that are being sold for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. To have the opportunity to buy tickets through the first phase of sales individuals needed to be officially registered to have a chance at purchasing them.

As of today at 10 am GMT the second phase of sales has begun. Tickets for certain events have gone on sale to the public and can be purchased here.

Several of these tickets are being sold at extremely affordable prices. 82% of the tickets are priced under R$ 100 (approximately $26 USD).

The events that tickets have been available include:

  • Final of the 100m (proof disputed by Usain Bolt)
  • Men’s basketball final
  • Men’s basketball semifinals
  • Men’s soccer final
  • Men’s artistic gymnastics final
  • Women’s artistic gymnastics final
  • Women’s handball final
  • Men’s handball final
  • Opening Ceremony
  • Male rugby Final
  • Singles final of women’s tennis
  • Singles final of men’s tennis
  • The women’s volleyball bronze medal game
  • Closing Ceremony

At the current time there does not appear to be any tickets for the swimming. The price of these events as listed on the website will range from R$160-350 ($41-90 USD) for the prelims and R$260-R$900 ($67-231 USD) for the finals.

This website will continue to sell tickets until the start of the games.

The site will also continue to list tickets that become available as it is expected that international committess and sponors will not use all of the tickets that have been allocated to them.
