WASHINGTON – Georgetown University swimming and diving Head Coach Jamie Holder has announced Hannah Burandt will join the staff as an assistant coach. Burandt comes to the Hilltop after spending one season as a volunteer assistant coach at University of Louisville.
“I am excited to welcome Hannah to the Hilltop,” Holder said. “She brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to our program. She has worked with some great programs and athletes so far in her career and I feel she will be a great fit for our program.”
At Georgetown, Burandt will assist Holder with all aspects of the program, including day-to-day coaching responsibilities, recruiting and team operations.
Prior to Georgetown, Burandt spent one season at Louisville as a volunteer assistant coach, where she assisted in coaching and practice implementation. She also helped create and maintain the program’s recruiting database. Away from the pool, she served as a Graduate Assistant in the Sports Administration Department, co-teaching undergraduate sports administration courses and mentoring students within the program.
From 2011-to-2013, Burandt served as the assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Oberlin College in Oberlin, Ohio. At Oberlin, she handled all recruiting duties and alumni outreach in addition to working with student-athletes on stroke mechanics and race strategies. In her first season, she helped guide the Yeo swimmers to a 30th place finish at NCAA’s, the programs’ best finish since 1995. The following season, she helped the women’s team produce 28 top times, three relay records and one individual record, while the men turned in seven individual and one relay top time.
Burandt gained early coaching experience with the University Swim Club in Orange, Ohio and the Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School in 2010 and 2011. Burandt has also coached at the Total Performance Sprint, Breaststroke, and IM Camps at Kenyon College since 2011. She also coached and managed the Parma Heights Pool in Parma Heights, Ohio from 2003-2012.

Burandt was a standout swimmer and student at Eastern Michigan from 2005-2009. Burandt was a three-time Academic All-Mid-American Conference (MAC) (2007-09). In 2008, she was named the Top Female Scholar for the women’s swim team as well as a Mid-Major All-American Honorable Mention, after becoming an NCAA Provisional Individual Qualifier in the 200 yard and 500 yard freestyle. She was also a member of the provisional relay qualifying 800 yard freestyle relay.
Burandt holds the third and fourth fastest times in EMU history in the 500 yard and 200 yard freestyle. She was a member of the record holding 200 yard, 400 yard, and 800 yard freestyle relays. Burandt also helped Eastern Michigan’s women’s program to its first two MAC Swimming Championships in 2006 and 2007.
Burandt graduated magna cum laude from Eastern Michigan in 2009 with her B.S. in secondary math and health education. After graduating from EMU in 2009, Burandt served as a high school mathematics teacher.
