Among the highlights of this week’s NCAA action is a two-day dual between Virginia and Cal, where the Cavaliers will once again race some off-distance events like they did last week against Georgetown.
After a more traditional opening day of competition on Friday, UVA and Cal will race the following events at Berkeley:
- Mixed 400 Medley Relay
- 300 Freestyle
- 50 Back Skins
- 300 IM
- 50 Free Skins
- 300 Freestyle
- 50 Fly Skins
- 300 IM
- 50 Breast Skins
- Mixed 400 Free Relay
Notes:
- The 300 free and 300 IMs will be done as an add-up, so each swimmer will do both 300s, and the best add-up for the 600 wins.
- The skins will follow the same format as the ISL: eight swimmers becomes four, four swimmers becomes two. This will be done with about 1-2 min between, with the women’s heat of eight followed by the men’s heat of eight, then the women’s heat of four, etc. The event will take 6-9 minutes total.
- Teams will enter four swimmers in each event maximum.
Other noteworthy duals on the schedule include NC State taking on UNC on Wednesday and then battling Tennessee on Friday and Saturday, plus another in-state battle between Texas and Texas A&M.

Hehehe – After ole Rocky Top rolls in and out of NC STATE with a pair of wins (yea you read it here first!) the swimming world will be quaking. The manVOLS with all the youth and exuberance and great diving will suit up and shut up the calvMEN. The ladyVOLS will stun the overconfident calvLADIES fer sure. That Tennessee clan will be arockin and arollin, asingin and adancin both days…doing the ratcoonskin hatted shuffle! Can’t wait!

Please try to keep up. This is the Saturday morning non-scoring meet. On Friday, they will be holding a traditional scoring meet (without diving).
