Head coach James Winchester announced today the hiring of Carolyn Meier as an assistant coach on TCU’s swimming & diving coaching staff.

“We are excited to welcome Carolyn to our program,” Winchester said. “In going through the interview process, Carolyn checked a lot of the boxes we were hoping to fill in this role. Competing and working at high academic institutions that have high athletic aspirations, Carolyn will know how to relate to the type of student athlete we are looking for at TCU.

“In doing our due diligence for this role, I spoke with many people, and everyone had great things to say about Carolyn both as a coach and a person. I am excited to add Carolyn to our staff and look forward to her making a positive impact in the near future.”

Meier comes from Ithaca, N.Y. where she served as an assistant coach at Cornell. She worked on a coaching staff that saw immense success, helping lead to seven school records and 50 all-time top 10 performances.

Prior to working at Cornell, Meier served as a graduate assistant coach at La Salle University where she earned her master’s degree in education. Not only did La Salle swimmers set 15 school records in her time with the program, she also helped coach over 20 individual finalists at the Atlantic 10 Championships.

Meier competed at Shippensburg University where she got her bachelor’s degree in exercise science. While at Shippensburg, she competed on both swimming & diving and outdoor track & field teams.

She was a 12-time conference finalist in swimming and she was recognized as a Scholar All-American. At the time of her graduation, she was the school record holder in the 200 freestyle, 400 freestyle and 400 medley relay teams.

“I am overjoyed to join the Horned Frog Family and represent the Swimming and Diving program at TCU,” Meier said. “The support and integrity shown within the staff and department is transparent and I am honored to uphold both the program and TCU’s core values.”
