After the first night of competition the point tallies saw the UBC Dolphins in the lead with 187 points followed closely by the Pointe-Claire Swim Club who collected 177 points and the Edmonton Keyano Swim Club who scored 138 points.
The first event of the morning was the women’s 100 freestyle. Hannah Riordan of PPO was the top qualifier posting a time of 56.57 followed by Paige Schultz of the Toronto Swim Club who recorded a 56.58. Caroline Lapierre-Lemire of the Point-Claire Swim Club, the only one of the top three qualifiers to place in the top eight at the Canadian Trials, had the third fastest time of the morning touching in a time of 56.70.
On the men’s side UBC Dolphins Stefan Milosevic, who earned the silver in the men’s 200 freestyle on Wednesday night, was the top qualifier finishing in a time of 50.48. 200 freestyle gold medalist Jeremy Bagshaw of ISC took 1.26 seconds off his lifetime best to qualify in the second position with a time of 50.56 while Chris Manning of WRMS finished in a time of 51.09 to qualify for the final with the third fastest time of the morning.
The women’s 100 breaststroke followed the original seeding order in the meet. Fiona Doyle of the University of Calgary Swim Club was the fastest qualifier posting a time of 1:08.92 followed by the 200 breaststroke silver medalist Rachel Nicol of the Lethbridge Amateur Swim Club who recorded a 1:09.58. Ashley McGregor of the Pointe-Claire Swim Club, who won the women’s 200 breaststroke on the first evening of competition, qualified for the final with the third fastest time of 1:09.90.
In the men’s 100 breaststroke Antoine Bujold of the Pointe-Claire Swim Club qualified for the final with the fastest prelim time of 1:02.69. He was followed by UBC Dolphin’s Sergey Holson who finished in a time of 1:03.18 while Bujold’s teammate Matthew Ackman who posted a 1:03.49 qualifying with the third fastest time of the morning.
Samantha Harding of the Manta Swim Club was the top qualifier in the women’s 400 IM finishing in a time of 4:54.99. She was followed by Vanessa Treasure of the Toronto Swim Club who posted a 4:56.63 and Breanne Siwicki of the Manta Swim Club who finished in a time of 4:56.89.
Alec Page of ISC, who was recently removed from the Canadian Commonwealth Games and Pan Pacific Championships team due to a doping violation, was the top qualifier in the men’s 400 IM finishing in a time of 4:25.65. He was followed by Tristan Cote of ESwim who posted a 4:30.32 and Colin Eriks of the Vancouver Pacific Swim Club who recorded a time of 4:33.09.
The top seeded swimmer in the women’s 50 backstroke, Danielle Hanus of Newmarket, qualified for the final with the fastest prelim time of 29.29. She was followed by 100 backstroke champion Dominique Bouchard of Oakville who posted a 29.14 and Ingrid Wilm of the Cascade Swim Club who recorded a 29.45.
Matthew Swanston made it two events in row where Newmarket had the top qualifier. Swanston posted the fastest time of the morning touching in a time of 26.17. He was followed by his brother Jeffrey Swanston who finished in a time of 26.29 and Kyle Haas of Oakville who touched in a time of 26.73.
