Butterflyer Sarah Dingus Announces Commitment To SLU (2024)

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Sarah Dingus has announced her commitment to further her education and swimming career at St. Louis University, beginning this fall with the 2024-2025 season. Dingus hails from Ponca City, Oklahoma, where she attended Ponca City High School and trains with the Ponca Sailfish Swim Team.

Dingus has been swimming competitively since the age of 6, but in high school focused more on basketball as a starter on her school’s varsity team. She only recently turned her attention back to the pool, and competed for her high school team only as a senior. As for why she chose SLU, Dingus told SwimSwam: “They have a great science program and a dedicated coach looking to build a great program”.

Highlighting Dingus’ spring was the Oklahoma High School State Championship (6A), which concluded her first and only high school swim season. She won the state title in the 100 fly with a time of 55.41 in finals, putting her nearly a second ahead of the next finisher. Her swim marked a new personal best by over a second, and is over eight seconds faster than the best time she owned coming into the season.

Dingus also opened her long course season this spring at Speedo Sectionals in Columbia. She dropped over three seconds in the 100m fly (1:07.40), as well as almost 13 seconds in the 200m IM (2:30.97). Her top placing event was the 200m fly, where she stopped the clock at 2:33.98 to earn 16th overall.

Top SCY Times

  • 50 fly – 25.43
  • 100 fly – 55.41
  • 200 fly – 2:10.04
  • 200 IM – 2:07.50

The St. Louis Billikens finished 11th out of 11 teams at the 2024 Atlantic 10 Championships this spring. It took a 55.94 in prelims of the 100 fly to return for finals, putting Dingus well within scoring range already.

The 100 fly was a weak event for SLU, as they did not have any finalists this year. Their top finisher was rising senior MaryBeth Clark, who took 21st overall in 56.57. Just behind her in 23rd was Mia Yeo, who stopped the clock at 56.70. Of the two, only Clark will return to campus this fall.

Dingus is joined by AnnMarie Czerwinski, Hanna Whitney, Tierney Kohl, and Kaitlyn Otte in SLU’s incoming class this fall.
