Bucknell Women, Delaware Men Hold Lead Heading Into Final Day of Bison Invitational

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell women’s swim & dive team maintained its first-place position at the Bucknell Invitational on Saturday, adding 10 more top-8 finishes and bringing its point total to 896. The Bison lead second-place Fordham (726.5) by nearly 170 points.

Results

Bucknell, which broke the school record in the 200 freestyle relay on Friday, added two more program top-10 times on Saturday.

The Bucknell 800 freestyle relay team (Sabrina VumbaccoSophia DonatiJennifer BoldenCaroline McGann) posted a 7:28.76 to finish second at the meet and rank 10th in school history. Also earning a spot in the record book was Alexandra Ritorto in the 100 breaststroke, whose 1:03.20 is fourth-best all-time and gave her a top finish in the ‘B’ finals for the event.

Caroline McGann was Bucknell’s lone third-place finisher in the 200 freestyle as she swam a 1:51.32 in the 200 freestyle. She was followed by teammate Jennifer Bolden, who clocked a 1:51.37 in the event to finish fourth.

Adding a fourth-place finish was Emma Feld in the 400 IM. The freshman posted a 4:25.54 in the event. Competing in the ‘B’ finals, Abby Doss swam the fasted 400 IM for the Bison on Saturday with a 4:24.81.

The Bison also put together a strong showing in the 100 breaststroke. Liz Dokina placed seventh in the ‘A’ finals, and Bucknell went 1-2-3 in the ‘B’ finals.

The Bucknell Invitational concludes on Sunday, Nov. 20. Events are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.

LEWISBURG, Penn. – The University of Delaware’s men’s swimming and diving team remained in first place after the conclusion of day two of the Bison Invitational. The Blue hens currently have 974 points to lead an eight-team field, ahead of host Bucknell (904.50), Davidson (638.50), Fordham (523), Rider (457.50), NJIT (433.50), La Salle (402), and Bloomsburg.

Toni Sabev set a new program record in the 100 breast, placing first with a time of 52.17. He also recorded an NCAA Zone Cut with his time, and a Kinney Natatorium Pool Record.

Also in the 100 breast, Evan Frick finished in eighth place (57.41), and Jack Hattery (55.38) and Matvei Namakonov (55.77) finished right behind in ninth and 10th. Simeon Sabev came in 16th place (59.01). Hattery’s and Namakonov’s times were also top 10 marks in program history.

Delaware had three athletes finish in the top eight in the 100 back, highlighted by Gavin Currie‘s (48.23) second place finish. DJ Fechtman came in fifth place (50.44) and Ryan Polino came in seventh (51.01). T.J. Yaglenski (51.02, 14th) and Miguel Vasquez (51.03) also had strong showings after qualifying for the finals.

In the 100 fly, Simeon Sabev led Delaware with a sixth place finish (49.13), while Namakonov finished ninth (49.77). Yaglenski placed 11th (49.97), Polino placed 16th (50.50), and Tim Grossi placed 21st (50.76).

Currie finished in fourth place in the 200 free (1:40.12) to highlight the Blue Hens. Vasquez (1:42.14) took 11th, Jacob Replogle (1:44.17) took 15th, Addison Collins (1:42.93) took 17th, and Luke Rautzhan (1:43.27) took 18th.

Hattery (3:57.23, second) and Dylan Smolders (4:03.71, fifth) both recorded top five finishes in the 400 IM, with Hattery’s time being the seventh best in program history. Gibson finished in 11th place (4:05.33) while Jack Zapp finished in 16th place (4:14.37).

Currie, Toni SabevSimeon Sabev, and Namakonov took first place in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:28.15. The quartet of Taylor, Smolders, Collins, and Rautzhan placed fifth in the 800 free relay with a time of 6:49.24.

In the 1-meter dive, Kevin Siegfried came in third place with a score of 260.85, while Philip Townsend was seventh with a score of 240.15.

The Blue Hens will look to maintain their first-place lead tomorrow during the final day of the Bison Invitational.

What happened to Andy dorsels first place 4 IM finish????
