LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell women’s swimming & diving team matched its impressive 2018-19 record by dispatching Army West Point, 164-136, on Saturday afternoon at Kinney Natatorium.
Six individual swimmers and one relay team combined to win 10 events to help the Bison improve to 8-1 (6-1 Patriot League) on the season. They equaled their total of overall and Patriot League victories with two dual meets left on their 2019-20 calendar.
Emma Hadley, who a day earlier swept the backstroke races against Johns Hopkins, repeated the feat against the Black Knights (2-3, 0-2 Patriot League). She was one of three Bison to win multiple individual events, joining Maddie Hartigan (100 and 200 freestyles) and Abby Merriman (500 and 1,000 freestyles).
Catherine Craig won the 200 breaststroke, clocking a time of 2:18.50 good for sixth in school history. The first year already owned Bucknell’s sixth slot with a time of 2:18.99 swam at the Bucknell Invitational.
Alexis Faria (200 butterfly) and Maggie Wyngowski (200 IM) were the Bison’s other individual winners. Hartigan also teamed with Sophia Donati, Emily Gorham and Megan Koczur for a first-place performance in the 400 freestyle relay.
Notably, Bucknell went 1-2-3 in the 500 freestyle, with Hartigan and Gorham finishing right behind Merriman.
The Bison next host Boston College on Saturday, Jan. 18 at 1 p.m. Before that dual, their final at Kinney Natatorium of the season, they will recognize their seniors.
