PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown women’s swimming and diving (3-3, 3-3 Ivy) defeated Columbia (1-3, 1-3 Ivy) 197-103 on Saturday in the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center inside the Nelson Fitness Center.

Brown honored its seniors competing in their final home regular season contest. The Bears will host the 2024 Ivy League Championship in late February.
“It’s such a special honor to celebrate the seniors at our last home dual meet of the year,” said Kate Kovenock, Mary Ann Lippitt Women’s Swimming/Diving Coaching Chair. “We showed a great deal of passion and grit with our team’s performance as a whole, and it’s always a good sign with championship season on the horizon.”
INSIDE THE RESULTS
Jenna Reznicek, Gillian Tu, Hannah Ahn and Samantha Scott earned the win in the 200 yard medley to begin the day, finishing in 1:39.88.
Sara Barrett earned the win in the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 10:00.39 and Anna Podurgiel won the 200 yard freestyle at 1:49.41.
Reznicek collected another victory in the 100 yard backstroke, earning nine points with the 52.99 performance. She was tops in the 200 yard backstroke as well, concluding the event in 1:59.05.
Tu won the 100 yard breaststroke at 1:01.47 and Zehra Bilgin’s 1:59.39 finish in the 200 yard butterfly topped the event. Bilgin also won the 100 yard butterfly at 53.99.
Scott and Morgan Lukinac went 1-2 in the 50 yard freestyle, while Lukinac won the 100 yard free with a mark of 50.39.
Podurgiel’s 2:02.71 mark in the 200 yard IM won the event.
The 400 yard free relay team of Bilgin, Lukinac, Dana Li and Kelly Dolce capped the day with a first-place finish at 3:23.68.
Elena Yeh’s 260.40 score in the 1-meter dive led all divers.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown men’s swimming and diving (3-2, 3-2 Ivy) won its second consecutive dual meet as the Bears defeated Columbia (2-3, 2-3 Ivy) 182-116 on Saturday in the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center inside the Nelson Fitness Center.

The win concludes the season’s home slate as Brown honored eight seniors for their contributions to the Bears swimming and diving program. Brown went 3-1 at home with today’s win.
“We have been in a very intense training block since the end of December and the team fought hard for this one,” said Kevin Norman, Ollie ’50 & Kay Patrell Men’s Swimming/Diving Coaching Chair. “Columbia is a very good team and I’m so proud of how well we competed.”
“This was also the last home meet for our eight seniors, and sending them out with a win like this is special and meant a lot to everyone on the team,” added Norman. “They’ve worked so hard for four years and deserved this.”

The day began with a win in the 200 medley relay as Harrison Powe, Jack Kelly, Nathan Depiero and Jonathan Gim earned 11 points with a time of 1:29.23.
Aidan Wilson won the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 9:16.73 and Marcus Lee topped the 200 yard freestyle event at 1:40.02.
Kelly collected wins in the 100 yard breaststroke at 53.86, 200 yard breaststroke at 1:59.55 and 200 yard IM (1:51.90).
Gim earned the win in the 50 yard freestyle with a finish of 20.38. Marcus Lee topped the 100 yard freestyle at 45.31.
The 400 yard freestyle relay of Marcus Lee, Gim, Donavan Jeng and Depiero earned the victory with a time of 3:00.93.
Rowland Lawver picked up the victory in the 3-meter diving and 1-meter diving with scores of 327.68 and 329.85, respectively.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — The Columbia women’s swimming and diving team was back in action for the first time in 2024 on Saturday afternoon, but lost to the Brown Bears, 197-103, in Rhode Island.
We had a lot of solid performances, but Brown’s depth and home pool advantage were too much to overcome,” Head Coach Diana Caskey said. “We have another good challenge against Cornell tomorrow, and we are excited to race at home!”
Aziza Ganihanova continued her string of strong performances, winning the 500-free with a time of 4:53.36. She also took second place in the 200-fly with a time of 2:00.59.
Ashley Hu emerged victorious in the 200-breast, touching the wall with a time of 2:14.83. She also took second place in the 100-breast with a time of 1:01.73.
Allison Martin (200-IM) and Lindsay Orringer (1000-free) each had a second place finish.
As for the divers, Macy Pine shined. She took first place in the 3m with a score of 291.50 while taking second on the 1m boards with 255.08 points. Alice Diakova finished in second on the 3m boards with a score of 289.13.
“Macy and Alice are right where they want to be after very intense training trip,” Head Diving Coach Scott Donie said. I was a particularly strong showing today from both Macy and Alice on the 3m board.”

The Lions will be back at it tomorrow when they host Cornell at Uris Natatorium. The meet is set to begin at 1:00 p.m.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. — The Columbia men’s swimming and diving team was back in action for the first time in 2024 on Saturday afternoon, but lost to the Brown Bears, 182-116, in Rhode Island.
“The light blue struggled today against a very solid Brown team,” Head Coach Jim Bolster said. “We knew going into the meet that we would have to have exceptional performances just to keep it close and we did not get that. Nevertheless we did have some good performances, especially from Adam Wu, Isaac Beers, Stanford Li, and Brian Lee.”
Wu was the star of the meet for the Lions, winning two events. He took first in the 200 fly with a time of 1:49.66, before going on to win the 500-free as well with a time of 4:32.24.
Beers won the first individual event of the afternoon for Columbia, winning the 100-back with a mark of 50.24.
Stanford Li completed the sweep in the backstroke events for the Lions, taking the 200-back with a time of 1:49.24.
Brian Lee touched the wall with a time of 48.55 in the 100-fly, good for first place.
As for the divers, Joseph Nicol’s best performance came in the 3m, where he finished in second place with a score of 318.15. He scored 298.35 on the 1m bboards which was good for fourth.
“Joe is right where he wants to be, especially after very intense training trip,” Head Diving Coach Scott Donie said. “Really encouraging results for Joe in both events, particularly on the 3m boards.”

“It definitely was a rough day for us,” Bolster continued. “But we have lots to accomplish in the weeks ahead and I think the team is looking forward to the challenges.”
The Lions will prepare for their first non-conference meet of the season this coming Friday when they will hit the road to take on Army in West Point. The meet will begin at 5:00 p.m.
