Powell Brooks
Powell Brooks is a high school All-American from Norcross, Ga. After graduating from Norcross High School Brooks decided to stay close-by and swim at the University of Georgia in his home state. Brooks is a freshman Bulldog, and he’s majoring in Business. Born Nov. 2, 1995 to Stewart and Susan Brooks he is a great student as well as an athlete. In high school he was a three-time Scholastic All-American and was also one of the top 20 national prospects in the 200 butterfly. He’s primarily a butterfly specialist, but he was a High School All-American in the 500 freestyle, which he once said was his favorite event. Brooks was a big grab for Georgia because he brought some depth in the butterfly events – he was an important addition his first year and he’s got a great future as Georgia has produced some top-notch butterfliers. Brooks swam for SwimAtlanta and as a junior he claimed that he had already narrowed it down to three schools – Georgia, UNC and Texas. His favorite snack is nutri-grain bars, and claims his favorite book is the Bourne Trilogy. He’s twice been named to the Gwinnett Daily Post’s Super Six.
