Claire Rasmus is a competitive swimmer who represents the USA internationally.
College (Texas A&M)
2015-16
Rasmus was part of Texas A&M’s third place 400 free relay, which set a school record (3:11.91), and fifth place 800 free relay teams at the NCAA Championships. Individually, she finished 16th in the 200 free and 31st in the 100 free.
At the SEC Championships, Rasmus swam the leadoff leg of Texas A&M’s runnerup 800 free relay. She also finished seventh in the 200 free (1:46.49), 16th in the 100 free (49.42) and 37th in the 500 free (4:52.14).
2016-17
Rasmus finished 8th in the 200 free (1:44.32), 32nd in the 100 free (48.64), and 39th in the 500 free (4:42.92) at the NCAA Championships. She also was a member of Texas A&M’s eighth place 400 free relay and ninth place 800 free relay teams.
Rasmus was part of Texas A&M’s gold medal 800 free relay and was the runnerup in the 200 free (1:44.51) at the SEC Championships. She also finished 15th in the 100 free (49.46) and 17th in the 500 free (4:41.07).
Internationally, Rasmus swam on the silver medal 800 free relay and bronze medal 400 free relay at the World University Games.
2017-18
Rasmus was sixth in the 200 free (1:43.65), 19th in the 500 free (4:39.24), and 26th in the 100 free (48.65) at the NCAA Championships. She also was a member of Texas A&M’s eighth place 400 free relay and ninth place 800 free relay.
At the SEC Championships, Rasmus won the 200 free title (1:43.62) and was a member of Texas A&M’s champion 800 free relay team, which set a school record (6:55.60). She also was third in the 500 free (4:39.23) and eighth in the 100 free (48.56) and was part of the Aggies’ runnerup 400 medley relay and fourth place 400 free relay.
2018-19
Rasmus was a member of Texas A&M’s eighth place 800 free relay, 11th place 400 medley relay and 13th place 400 free relay at the NCAA Championships, swimming the leadoff leg. Individually, she was 12th in the 200 free (1:44.17), 30th in the 100 free (48.92) and 42nd in the 500 free (4:43.97) at NCAAs.
Rasmus was fourth in the 200 free (1:43.96), fifth in the 500 free (4:39.11) and 10th in the 100 free (48.59) at the SEC Championships. The team captain was a member of the Aggies’ gold medal winning 800 free relay and fifth place 200 free relay and 400 medley relay and ninth place 400 free relay teams at the SEC meet.
National/International Competition
2019 World University Games (Naples, Italy)
Rasmus was a member of the United States’ gold medal winning 800 free relay team at the World University Games in Napoli, Italy, in July 2019. The team, consisting of Rasmus, Kaersten Meitz, Paige Madden and Gabby DeLoof, finished nearly six seconds ahead of the field (7:53.90) and just two hundredths of a second off the meet record.
She also swam on Team USA’s gold medal winning 400 free relay, which set a World University Games meet record (3:37.99). Rasmus swam a 54.63 on the second leg behind Veronica Burchill (55.39) and ahead of Catie DeLoof (54.10) and anchor Gabby DeLoof (53.87).
2019 Pan American Games (Lima, Peru)
Since Rasmus only swam on relays at the world university games, she swam a full schedule of events at the 2019 Pan Ams in Lima.
Rasmus earned gold in the 200 free (1:58.64), just .06 ahead of her USA teammate, Meaghan Raab. Rasmus also swam on the gold medal winning 4×100 free relay (2nd, 54,51), 4×200 free relay (1st, 1:59.17), and mixed 4×100 free relay (55.10).
