VESTAL, N.Y. – Binghamton posted seven double-winners and set four pool records, highlighting its sweep of Colgate in a swimming & diving dual meet on Friday evening at the Saunders Aquatic Center. The Bearcats won 225-57 on the men’s side and 184-114 in the women’s meet.

“Tonight was a good night for us,” head coach Jerry Cummiskey said. “We came out ready to go in the women’s meet and the men wanted to do well in the relays that we don’t normally swim in during the season. Both teams are in a good place at this point of the season.”

On the men’s side, sophomore Xiaoyu Lin captured both the 100 breast and 200 breast with times of 55.72 and 2:05.32 respectively. In the process, he broke the 100 breast pool record of 56.75 set by Lucas Kennedy of Canisus in 2014.

Lin was part of a second pool record that was set by the 400 medley relay quartet, which also included freshmen Keegan Chatham and Elijah Lanfear as well as sophomore Liam Murphy. Their time of 3:22.66 eclipsed the 2010 mark of 3:26.04 set by Binghamton.

The men’s 200 free relay team of Lanfear, senior Benjamin Beldner and juniors Justin Meyn and Ryan Maierle also set the pool record. Their time of 1:23.66 broke the 2008 mark of 1:23.81 set by the Bearcats.

Meyn also won a pair of individual events, taking top honors in the 50 free (21.11) and 100 fly (50.28). Lanfear, meanwhile, swept the 100 free (47.02) and 200 free (1:44.85).

The Bearcats other double winner on the men’s side was junior Ryan Cohn who was first in both diving events. He scored 285.15 points in the one-meter event and 261.08 points in the three-meter competition.

Binghamton’s final pool record was set by sophomore Henry Shemet in the 400 IM. His time of 4:03.51 eclipsed the 2003 time of 4:03.80, which was set by Chris Grabowski of Lafayette.

The rest of the individual winners for the Bearcat men’s squad included Chatham in the 200 back (1:56.15), sophomore Zachary Ciriaco in the 1000 free (9:59.90), sophomore George Kipshidze in the 100 back (54.00) and junior Matthew Palguta in the 500 free (4:49.08).
