The Conference office announced today that Richard Bohus of ARIZONA STATE was named Pac-12 Men’s Swimmer of the Month and Sun Devil teammate David Hoffer was voted Pac-12 Men’s Diver of the Month for November.
Bohus (Bekescsaba, Hungary) earned seven second-place and five first-place finishes in the month of November in the pool. Bohus was a key factor in assisting the Sun Devils, beating then-No. 14 USC for the first time in 13 years and moving up from No. 24 to No. 11 in the national rankings. At the Art Adamson Invitational, he set two new ASU individual records in the 100-yard and 200-yard backstroke as the No. 11 Sun Devils came from behind to win. ASU competed against and beat five other teams, including then-No. 14 Texas A&M and then-No. 17 LSU. Their team win improved from a fifth place finish last season. A member of three winning relay teams at Art Adamson Invitational (400 free, 800 free, 400 medley), the 400-medley relay team set a new ASU record, half a second faster than the NCAA A-standard time. ASU now has four all-time monthly accolades.
Hoffer (Littleton, Colo.) recorded one third-place finish, three second-place finishes, and one first in the two meets ASU competed in. He placed second in both 3-meter events at the Sun Devils meet against USC and at the Texas Diving Invitational, scoring 349.73 and 414.85, respectively. Hoffer finished on top in the 1-meter competition at USC with 332.55 and third in the event with 372.60 at the Texas Diving Invitational. He also competed in the platform at the Texas Diving Invitational, placing second with 426.25. This is ASU’s 17th all-time winner in the category.
