Argentina Announces Roster For 2016 Short Course Worlds

CADDA, the National swimming federation of Argentina, has announced its roster for the upcoming Short Course World Championships. This year, they’ll be sending 6 athletes to compete at the event, which will take place in Windsor, Canada from December 6th-11th.

Headlining the roster is Rio Olympian Santiago Grassi, the Argentine National Record holder in the 100 (51.73) and 200 (1:56.30) butterflies. Grassi competed in the 100m butterfly at the Olympics this summer, placing 24th overall with his 52.56. In the long course pool, he’s the National Record holder in the 50 fly (23.90) and 100 fly (52.09).

Another National Record holder, Andrea Berrino, will be making the trip to Canada. Berrino broke her own record in the 100 back to qualify for the meet with a 58.06. She also qualified in the 50 back, where she clocked a 27.05.

Notably, Federico Grabich, who holds the short course Argentine National Records in the 200 free and 100 back, will not be attending the meet this year. Grabich won the first-ever World Championships medal for Argentina when he placed 3rd in the 100 free at the 2015 FINA World Championships in Kazan.
