Andreina Pinto Doubles Up On Day 2 Of Plantation Sectional Championships

15 year-old Kate Magill won the first event of the Plantation, FL Speedo Sectional Championship with her time of 17:26.51 in the 1500 meter freestyle. She dropped an impressive 42 seconds to claim the top spot on the podium.

On Friday, Claire Donohue was the only swimmer in the field to break 1 minute in the 100 butterfly with her time of 59.90. Her time is just outside of the top 20 in SwimSwam’s World Rankings.

Andreina Pinto doubled up on the second day, winning both the 200 freestyle and the 400 IM. Pinto ran away with the women’s 200 meter freestyle at 2:01.78 and won a close race in the 400 IM to finish with a 4:51.62.

Also picking up wins in women’s races on Friday:

  • Hrafnhildur Luthersdottir – 100 Breaststroke – 1:08.15
  • Sviatlana Khakhlova – 50 Backstroke – 29.35

On the men’s side, Franco Lupoli won the only individual event of the day with hist time of 8:18.57 in the 800 meter freestyle.

On the second day, Pavel Sankovich just missed the top 10 in the world with his 100 butterfly time of 52.78. Lazlo Cseh has the 10th fastest time of the year at 52.57.

Another big swim came from 15 year old Max Miranda. He won the 400 IM with a time of 4:29.33, dropping close to 2 seconds from his time.

Also picking up wins in men’s races on Friday:

  • Daniele Tirabassi – 200 Freestyle – 1:52.18
  • Felipe Lima – 100 Breaststroke – 1:01.70
  • Kellen Gray – 50 Backstroke – 27.73
  • Pavel Sankovich – 100 Butterfly – 52.78
  • Max Miranda – 400 IM – 4:29.33

And good luck to everyone swimming at this meet! The Plantation aquatics complex is one of the best in the state; I’ve gotten many best times in those pools!

Pavel Stankovich actually got second at sectionals in the 100 fly. Pawel Korzeniowski of Poland out-touched him by .01 to win with a 52.77
