NV State Champion Amy Lubawy Verbally Commits to Tennessee

Tennessee has picked up a very solid verbal commitment out of Nevada in sprinter Amy Lubawy from the powerhouse Boulder City Henderson Swim Team and Bishop Gorman High School.

Individually, she’s the defending Nevada state champion in the 50 free, and was the runner-up only to current Indiana freshman Olivia Barker in the 100 last year. She also crept within .02 seconds of the State Record in the former of those events, so there’s a good chance that it will go down during her senior season.

In yards, she has bests of:

  • 50 yard free – 23.48
  • 100 yard free – 50.66
  • 100 yard fly – 55.29

And that’s exactly the kind of swimmer that Tennessee needs in this class to maintain the level they were at in the spring of 2013, when they took 3rd at NCAA’s. Someone who can come in and bolster the free relays immediately, and who can help add some depth to the butterfly group.
