Alexis Vetrano Gives Verbal Commitment to Kenyon College

“I chose Kenyon not only because of the great academics and amazing swim team, but because of the emphasis on making relationships with peers and professors in order to have the greatest success and experience possible. I can not wait to be part of this community and to be a Kenyon Lady!” [sic]

Alexis Vetrano, a freestyler and butterflyer from Raleigh, North Carolina, has verbally committed to swim for Kenyon College in 2017-18. Vetrano is a senior at Leesville Road High School and a member of the Marlins of Raleigh club team. She swam the 200/500 freestyle events at the 2016 4A Eastern NCHSAA Regional Championships last February, and the 200 free at the North Carolina 4A State Meet. A week later she swam with MOR at the North Carolina Swimming LSC Senior Championships, improving her 200 free time by 5 seconds from her performance at the 4A meet and notching a PB. She also went best times in the 1000 free and 200 fly at that meet.

Vetrano had an impressive long course season, picking up best times at nearly every meet. From the Virginia Last Chance Meet (where she went PBs in the 200m free and 200/400m IM) in June, to Greensboro Sectionals (800m free) in July, to Atlanta Futures (100/400m free and 100/200m fly), Vetrano excelled in long course all season. In fact, her LCM times are relatively better than her SCY times, across the board:

  LCM SCY
100 Free 59.44 54.08
200 Free 2:10.32 1:53.77
400/500 4:25.63 4:58.76
800/1000 9:14.23 10:15.98
100 Fly 1:04.78 .
200 Fly 2:21.92 .

Vetrano will join the Kenyon Ladies along with fellow class of 2021 verbal commits: Crile Hart, Julia Moran, Kate Alexy, Marissa Wolff, and Myanna Cook.
