BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Alabama women’s swimmer Kailyn Winter and men’s track and field jumper Julian Collins have been named Southeastern Conference 2025 Brad Davis Community Service Award Winners, the league office announced Thursday.
The Crimson Tide duo are two of 32 honorees (16 men and 16 women) who are now finalists for the Male and Female Brad Davis Community Service Leaders of the Year and will receive a $7,500 postgraduate scholarship. The male and female Community Service Leaders of the Year, to be announced later in May, will each receive a $15,000 postgraduate scholarship.
The SEC Community Service Postgraduate Scholarship is named for former Associate Commissioner Brad Davis, who succumbed to cancer on March 2, 2006.
Kailyn Winter | Women’s Swimming and Diving
- For the past three years, has volunteered with DCH Hospital in Tuscaloosa, working as a triage volunteer
- Additionally, served as a nursing station volunteer and a home medical device volunteer in 2023
- Role at DCH allowed her to assist nurses with patient vitals, move patients, translate for Spanish only speakers and assist with medical procedures
- Volunteered at West Alabama Food Bank where she packed meals for elderly Alabama citizens
- Coached for Quicksilver Swimming, leading a youth team and aiding in strength training
- Served as an assistant for game and tournament operations for Alabama Adapted Athletics
- Active member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) at Alabama
- 2025 SEC Swimming and Diving Community Service Team honoree
- 2025 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honoree
- Three-time 2025 All-American as well as an All-SEC selection
Julian Collins | Men’s Track and Field
- Has accumulated close to 30 hours of community service
- Volunteer efforts range from Habitat for Humanity, Project Angel Tree, West Alabama Food Bank and Halloween Extravaganza
- Also served time at University Place Elementary
- A 2023 SEC Track and Field Community Service Team member who gave his time to UA’s Great Resource Information Fair, assisting with various tasks
- Qualified to the 2024 NCAA East Prelims
- Earned a scoring finish in men’s long jump at the 2024 SEC Outdoor Championships, taking seventh
