The Air Force men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams are set to open the 2017-18 campaign at the Intermountain Shootout this weekend, which is hosted by Colorado Mesa in Grand Junction, Colo. The Falcons will open competition on Friday, Oct. 6 at 5 p.m. and finish the two-day event on Saturday, Oct. 7 beginning at 11 a.m.
Along with the Falcons, men’s teams from Colorado Mesa and BYU will join women’s teams from Colorado Mesa, BYU and Colorado State at the competition.

The men’s team, coming off back-to-back Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Championships, will bring back seven seniors, two juniors, eight sophomores and added 16 freshmen to the roster this season. The Falcons also return 10 cadet-athletes that earned at least one All-WAC award last season, including junior Steffen Mount, who broke the Air Force record in both the 50-free and 100-free last year, and sophomore Ben Brockman, the WAC’s reigning Freshman of the Year.
The women’s team will enter the 2017-18 season with two seniors, eight juniors, 16 sophomores and welcome in 16 freshmen. Last season, the Falcons set nine Air Force records and had 26 top-10 program swims. Air Force brings back a trio of All-Mountain West performers from a year ago in senior Elise Hart, senior Jinan Andrews and sophomore Lydia Knutson.
