2025 U.S. Nationals Day 5 Roster Update: 20 Women, 26 Men Projected to Represent USA at Worlds

2025 U.S. NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

After five days of racing, it looks like 20 women and 26 men will represent Team USA in the pool at the 2025 World Aquatics Championships in Singapore.

Sunday morning update: USA Swimming released the official roster. Claire Weinstein has dropped the 1500m and Jillian Cox has been added to the roster in that event. Other than that chance, the official roster looks the same as what we have below. Additionally, Katie Ledecky has dropped the 200 free and Torri Huske has taken the individual spot.

The women didn’t have any problems bumping up against the 26 swimmer roster cap, and they’re fitting to send a strong and experienced roster. We do expect some event lineup reshuffling, especially in the 200 free, where Katie Ledecky is expected to forego the 200 freestyle, and Torri Huske, who is next in line for a spot, is expected to do the same.

We had a couple surprises during the last two races for the men. First, Bobby Finke was the only man to clear the FINA ‘A’ standard in the 800 freestyle. We couldn’t find any other swimmer who made finals and had been under the ‘A’ cut during the qualifying period (dating back to March 2024), then it appears that Finke will be the only swimmer to represent the USA in that event. Second, a decade after he switched his sporting citizen from the US to Canada, Santo Condorelli touched 2nd in the 50 free, securing a roster spot. However, the US men were already at the roster cap max of 26, meaning that Kieran Smith, a mid-distance stalwart for the USA over the last few years, won’t make the team based on his 6th-place finish in the 200 freestyle.

Note: this is our best projection of what the roster may look like, based on the results and selection criteria. We’ve done our best to stay on top of a lot of moving pieces, but if you think we’re missing someone or an event on the list below, kindly let us know in the comments and we’ll make the fix if necessary.

Roster By Name

Women

  1. Phoebe Bacon – 200 IM
  2. Katharine Berkoff – 50 back, 100 back
  3. Caroline Bricker – 200 fly

  10. Katie Ledecky – 800 free, 200 free, 400 free, 1500 free
  11.  Simone Manuel – 4×100 free relay
  12. Anna Moesch – 4×100 free

*The University of Texas women’s swimming social media has indicated that Jillian Cox is on the Worlds team for the 1500 free. Assuming that’s accurate — and it certainly makes sense — presumably Weinstein opted to pare down her schedule by dropping the 1500, allowing Cox to take the second spot behind Ledecky.

Looks like USA Swimming finalized the roster: https://www.usaswimming.org/news/2025/06/08/roster-finalized-on-final-night-of-toyota-national-championships

The only changes I see are Ledecky giving up her 200 free spot for Torri Huske (as of now Huske appears to be swimming it) and Weinstein giving up her 1500 free spot for Jillian Cox.

MA short axis sprint specialist
Maybe this program will be more manageable for him and he can snag a medal

With K.Smith missing out to roster limits and Foster’s busy schedule, I think there’s a good chance we might see Mijatovic in prelims of the 4x 200.

Guiliano just missed the 6th place by 0.01..so they ll use him..Carson got 5th and if he is available on that morning he should swim it I guess..Rex is also busy..they can rest him and use Luka on behalf of him..

Luka , Foster, Guiliano and Macfedden for prelims

Even Casas and Lasco could be considered for the 4×200 prelims

Rex has the 3 days before the relay entirely off. No way he should be automatically given a spot in finals at his first senior meet unless he kills it in his 400. Maurer, Foster, Guiliano, McFadden for prelims, top 2 splits advance to the finals relay. Luka can wait his turn for now.

Part of swimming your better guys in the morning is to make sure you don’t end up in a 2021 Aussie women scenario where you leave one of your best legs of the finals relay.

Perhaps. It seems to me that people don’t realize how crucial it is to have a veteran or two on this relay. It has been getting harder and harder to make top 8. 1 or two off swims in the morning can knock us out of the finals and I personally believe that this is a gold medal winning relay for many years to come, but we can’t take prelims lightly ever. Yes there are several people we can use several of the people you mentioned have very busy schedules. Karen would’ve been great to have on this team not to say he would’ve been a shoe in for finals, but I sure would’ve felt better having him on that… Read more »

Top 2 for the 100m free and 200m free are just listed for the individual event. Anyone who finishes 3rd-6th and qualifies foe the team are listed for the relay.

@ Hawaiian Reeves
She said in the interview with Bobby that she was excited to be on a relay with Claire Weinstein so I assume that means that she will be on the 4×200

Maxine Parker had an amazing meet, with a couple lifetime bests. I hope she goes to WUGs and ends her career on a high note
