2026 AQJT Summer Spectacular

  • June 11-14, 2026
  • Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center, Minneapolis, MN
  • LCM (50 meters)
  • “2026 MN AQJT Aquajets Summer Spectacular” on Meet Mobile

Continuing a hot streak of big swims worldwide, Rochester Swim Club’s Elliot Leasure got in on the action with a massive 50 backstroke performance in Minneapolis at the Aquajets Summer Spectacular, notching a new 13-14 National Age Group Record in 26.00, erasing the former NAG record by more than a half second.

Leasure, 14, took down the former record time of 26.70, set by Jack Alexy in 2017.

Coming into this meet, Leasure boasted a best time in the 50 back of 27.03, which he swam in May.

This meet proved to be a productive one for the Rochester native. Including several other best times, such as the 100 back in 56.70, a three-tenth-of-a-second timedrop from his best time of 57.00 in May. That time also leaps him inside the top three in the 13-14 NAG rankings, only behind NAG record holder Thomas McMillan (56.36) and Josh Zuchowski (56.62). His previous best 100 back time ranked him just one spot outside of the top 5 at 6th.

One of his biggest timed drops of the meet came in the 200 backstroke, taking the win in the event in 2:02.66, two and a half seconds faster than any other time he had ever clocked before that swim. Just like the 50 and 100 backstroke races, Leasure found himself climbing the 13-14 ladder with this swim as well, leaping from a pre-meet 16th place all-time to now inside the top five, at 4th, just ahead of US Olympic Gold Medalists Ryan Murphy (2:02.86) and Aaron Peirsol (2:02.78) in 6th and 5th, respectively.

In total, Leasure captured six wins on the meet, with other standout performances including the 100 fly (56.69), 400 free (4:16.20), and the 400 IM (4:52.02).

I am pretty sure the meet was LCM but it would be nice if the article would state this.

I did state that I as pretty sure it was 50 meters, I also searched the page for “LCM” and “meter” and did not find matches prior posting my comment but you are right…

literally the 3rd line in the article…. it’s LCM (50m)

SwimSwam listens to these comments and adapts. They have been consistently posting the pool length for… years now in the article.

You just have to stop skimming over the first few lines or commenting on headlines my friend.

Two NAGs in one weekend, BOTH outside of Junior Nats, is absolutely bonkers

for once “destroys” and “demolishing” aren’t hyperbole.
