What does “I was going there to see something else” mean? Can’t tell if it’s a hint at some other motive of his Australia trip or if I’m looking for tea when it’s really just a completely innocuous alternative phrasing of “going there to try some new training.”

While he’s been in the states for a while English is still his second language. He was at ASU for three years and Texas is a different environment but not super different since he was still with Bob. He probably wanted a different coaching style and training program for a little while and “see” what it was like before getting back to work with Bob again

Who among us wouldn’t take that? I think if Australia, in general, has proven anything, it’s that taking a few months off after the Olympics isn’t the career-ender that we’ve all been taught since we were 8 years old.
