15-Year-Old Rylee Erisman Swims 46.69 100 Free To Break U.S. 15-16 National Age Group Record

2024 Winter Junior Championships – East

15-year-old Rylee Erisman became the youngest female swimmer to break the 47-second barrier in the 100-yard freestyle, swimming a time of 46.69 to win the event at the 2024 Winter Junior Championships — East. She breaks her own U.S. 15-16 National Age Group record time of 47.14 from November 2024 at the FHSAA Class 4A State Championship.

Erisman, a sophomore who swims for the Windermere Lakers club, also becomes the fourth 18-and-under swimmer to break 47 seconds, joining Simone Manuel, Abbey Weitzeil and Gretchen Walsh.

All-Time Top Performers, Girls’ 100-Yard Freestyle (U.S. 15-16 Age Group):

  2. Claire Curzan, TAC Titans – 47.23 (2020)
  3. Alex Shackell, Carmel Swim Club — 47.44 (2022)
  4. Gretchen Walsh, Nashville Aquatic Club — 47.49 (2019)
  5. Simone Manuel, First Colony Swim Team — 47.73 (2013)

Erisman also became the no. 17 overall performer of all-time in the 100-yard freestyle amongst all female swimmers. Her time would have placed fourth at the 2024 NCAA Championships.

Compared to her previous National Age Group record, Erisman was faster on both ends. She went out 0.29 faster on the front half, and closed 0.16 seconds faster on her back half.

And she is a great relay swimmer, she anchored junior champ medley relay in 53.6, it is amazing..hope to see she is joining with Huske, Douglass, Gretchen on big stage

I’ll take Spink and maybe Shackell as the prelims swimmers. I think Douglass will be retired by 2028.

i dont think so, she didnt even semifinal at trials, its probably gonna be shackell and erika peleaz in prelims

I’d watch for Mintenko, too. She went 47.5 tonight and is headed to the best training center for U.S. women’s sprinters. (She finished 24th at Trials this year.)

Wouldn’t surprise me if a few other of those names mentioned above head to Virginia, too.

we had some surprise 15/16 year olds make world/olympic teams over the last 4 years,,, could she join them, without really even being a surprise?

her personal best from jr pan pacs already would’ve made the Olympic team if she were able to go that time at trials, so probably has a really good shot next summer

Yep! I am just really mind blown that at 15 she is almost a favorite? like she was pretty close and her PB at jr pan pacs just confirms it!

the others from the last few years were all “surprises” with big drops at the selection meet, ie grimes / shackell / weinstein / sims
