Throughout history, there has been a lot of mystique around twins, a lot of rumors, a lot of reports of twins who seemingly are connected via the metaphysical.
And maybe that’s not all nonsense afterall.
Racing side-by-side on Saturday at the Indiana Senior State Championship meet, twin brothers Landon VanMatre and Braylon VanMatre led off the “A” and “B” 800 free relays for Boilermaker Aquatics, respectively.
Both swimmers split the exact same time, 2:06.51.
The result was a best time for both swimmers: Landon had previously been 2:13.43, while Braylon’s best entering the meet was a 2:12.44.
Lining up for the final turn, Braylon had almost a second-and-a-half lead over his brother, but Landon managed to close the gap. His “A” relay won the heat and placed 19th overall in the event.
While not twins, we saw something similar last year, when sisters Mallory Beil and Kenady Beil swam the 200 yard fly at different meets on the same weekend and went the exact same time for their respective college teams.
Im on their team, landon is more of a backhalf dude while braylon loves to go fast
