Saturday marks day 7 of the 2017 FINA World Championships in Budapest, Hungary and swimming fans will get to see the heats of 5 events during this morning’s preliminary session. Swimmers are gearing up to compete in the women’s 50 free, men’s 50 back, women’s 50 breast, mixed 4×100 free relay, and men’s 1500 free.
Turkey’s Viktoria Gunes was the only top 30 scratch for day 7 prelims on the women’s side. Gunes, who set the Junior World Record in the 200 breast and swept the breaststroke titles back at the 2015 Junior World Championships, was seeded 21st heading into prelims with a 31.30. She swam the 100 breast earlier in the meet, finishing well off her best time with a 1:10.30 for 32nd place. She fared better in the 200 breast, but still missed out on the semifinals just barely with a 2:28.68 for 17th place.
On the men’s side, Richard Nagy (SVK) was the only top 30 scratch as he withdrew from the 1500 free.
