Alderson Broaddus University in Philippi, West Virginia is excited to announce the hiring of a new head coach. Coach Kevin Lynch will take over the 2nd year men’s and women’s swimming programs.
Coach Lynch is in his first season as a head coach but brings many years of experience to ABU. Most recently, Coach Lynch has worked with Randolph Area YMCA Swim Team under Coach April Gitzen and private coaching with elite athletes in the state of West Virginia for many years.
Coach Lynch was a team captain of the Fairmont State University team for two years. He was awarded Falcon Leadership award by Coach Patrick Snively his senior season and continued working with the FSU swim program in his final year.
Coach Lynch says that he “is excited to bring his knowledge of swimming and strength training to the Battlers program as it continues to grow.”
In ABU’s first season of varsity competition, participating in the NCAA’s Division II, they finished their year with a dual meet against Fairmont State. In year two, they begin participation in the Appalaichan Conference Meet, who will hold their championships from February 12th-14th at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center (Virginia Tech’s home pool).
Lynch replaces Nick Hinkle, who led this team through its first varsity season.
