The Fitter and Faster Swim Tour Presented by Swimoutlet.com, will be hosting a two day, Elite Speed and Power Camp on September 20 and 21 in Madison, NJ (just 20 minutes outside of Newark). The Elite Camp will focus specifically on teaching swimmers who are at a higher level make big improvements in their starts, turns as well as generating more “power” from their stroke.
Leading the Elite Camp will be Olympians Jimmy Feigen, Kara Lynn Joyce and Strength and Conditioning expert, Nick Folker. Qualifying times in the 100 yard free of 54.99 (boys) and 58.99 (girls) are required to attend. The camp is open to 60 swimmers max and is nearing capacity very quickly – expected to be sold out by the end of this week. The Elite Camp is attracting swimmers from all over, everyone from high school aged athletes looking to make big improvements to current National Age Group record holders. There are still spots available and you can register by clicking here.
Here are a five reasons why attending the Elite Speed and Power Camp is a must:
1. Start the Season with an Advantage
This is one of the only camps that takes place at the beginning of the season, instead of during the middle or end. All athletes will be able to apply what they learn in September, over the course of the season and get big results in December and March.
2. Train in a High Performance Environment
This is an opportunity to train and practice with other athletes who you normally only see at big meets. The positive effects of getting to train with your biggest competition in a camp is tremendous and very rare. Levels of focus, concentration, willingness to improve and mental attitudes are often improved in environments such as the Elite Camp.
3. Improve Your Starts, Turns and Power
The Elite Camp will have a huge emphasis on improving starts, turns and teaching swimmers how to maximize their “power” at different points in a race. In shorter races, it is often times the swimmer with the better start, breakout, turn and finish who is able to beat other swimmers that may be faster in the water.
4. Small Group Size for Better Evaluation and Feedback
You will leave this camp faster and more powerful after working in an elite environment (only 60 swimmers) with Jimmy Feigen, Kara Lynn Joyce AND Nick Folker for two full days.
5. Elite Strength and Conditioning with Nick Folker
Often referred to as the “wizard” or “guru” of Strength and Conditioning for swimming, Folker’s knowledge of how to maximize your strength and apply it directly into the water is world class. Folker will be working with Elite Camp participants and teaching them how to improve their strength on dryland to create more explosiveness during the start, turn and breakout portions of the race.
