Yale went 1-2 in the mile, led by junior Noah Millard who broke the meet and pool records with an NCAA “A” cut of 14:34.72. There was absolutely no one anywhere behind him and he swam against the clock for the next 1550 yards.

There was a tightly bunched group vying for second place, with Brown sophomore Matt Williamson and freshmen Stephen Zhukov (Columbia), Arshak Hambardzumyan (Yale), and Santiago Gutierrez (Princeton) flipping together for much of the middle of the race. Hambardzumyan pulled away and stood alone at #2 from the 1000 through to the end. He touched second with 14:56.65.

Zhukov and Gutierrez battled down the stretch, while Princeton sophomore Connor Buck pushed past Penn’s James Curreri over the last 200 yards.

Columbia’s Zach Vasser and Princeton’s Max Marcus, the two fastest finishers from the afternoon heats, made the podium.

Cornell junior Pietro Ubertalli crushed the field in the 200 back final, lowering his own team and pool records and tying the Ivy League meet record of 1:38.99, set by Dean Farris of Harvard in 2018.

Harvard’s Anthony Rincon was out first at the 50 but Ubertalli took over at the halfway point and built his lead from there. Rincon remained alone in the second position; he touched with 1:40.60. Teammate Adriano Arioti beat out Cornell freshman Gabe Anagnoson (1:43.14) and Princeton sophomore Parker Lenoce (1:43.18) for third.

Brown freshman Marton Nagy took the “B” vinal with 1:42.69. Yale senior Jed Jones was the “C” final champion with 1:46.58.

  6. Marre Gattnar, Harvard – 43.10

It was Columbia junior Zion James who was first off the blocks and first to flip at the 50. He was followed by Yale sophomore Deny Nankov and Princeton freshman Patrick Dinu.

Dinu picked it up on the second half and pulled ahead of the field coming off the 75 wall. He straight-armed it from the flags to the wall and got the win with 42.24. Nankov touched just ahead of teammate Nicholas Finch, 42.52 to 42.63. James finished fourth in 42.77, just ahead of defending champion David Greeley of Harvard.

Adam Wu of Columbia eked out the “B” final win, touching out Evan Croley by .01 with 43.13. Cornell’s Dominic Edwards won the “C” final with 43.75.

  6. Demirkan Demir, Columbia – 1:54.23
  7. Andrew Zou, Princeton – 1:54.63
  8. Charlie Egeland, Yale – 1:57.62

We are getting used to watching the Fallon-Kelly show and could have predicted the pacing of this race, but we were unprepared for TWO sub-1:50s at the finish.

Brown’s Jack Kelly was out first in 24.27, but Fallon caught him at the 100. Kelly kept pushing on the third 50, but Penn’s Matthew Fallon blazed ahead on the fourth 50. He split 24.8/27.2/28.3/28.5 for a new Ivy League meet and Brown pool record of 1:48.85. Kelly went 24.2/27.8/28.4/29.2 for 1:49.80, his first time under 1:50.

Columbia sophomore Joshua Corn came in third from way out in lane 8. He dropped 2.6 seconds from his morning swim to edge Penn sophomore Peter Whittington, 1:52.89 to 1:53.09. Penn’s Watson Nguyen was .03 back in fifth with 1:53.12.

Harvard freshman Joshua Chen took the “B” final with 1:55.80. Brown junior Jake Regenwetter took the “C” with 1:57.65.

Schmitt still led at the 100 (47.96) but Schott made his way past Gurski, outsplitting him by .2 on the second 50. He trailed Schmitt by .24.

Schott took over the lead at the 150 wall, splitting 25.8 to Schmitt’s 26.3 on the third 50. Gurski was still in third place, a full second ahead of Balva.

The final 50 yards was electric. Schott was first to turn for home at the 175 wall but Schmitt was building momentum and looked as if he had passed him halfway to the wall. Schott put his head down on the final four strokes and got the touch by .10. He edged Schmitt 1:40.42 to 1:40.52 and took down his new Ivy League meet and Brown pool records in the process.

Gurski was followed by Balva, while Harvard’s Adriano Arioti had a strong second half to moved past Penn’s Max Malakhovets and Princeton’s Conor McKenna to take fifth.

Princeton freshman Logan Noguchi added more points for the Tigers with a “B” final win in 1:44.31. Brown’s James Kershaw was the “C” final winner in 1:47.22.

The results were more balanced (and faster!!) than in the past. Yale nearly broke the traditional Harvard-Princeton lock on first and second. And the teams in 5th through 8th had plenty to be happy about. Cornell double backstroke winner and 400 medley relay win. Columbia strong all around and would have been right with Brown and Cornell but for a relay DQ. Penn with many standout performances. And a huge improvement for Dartmouth: 571 points vs. 390 last year (remember that you get 220 points automatically if your 5 relays come in last); double-A-finalist diver and only A-finalist swimmer are both freshman, and very few points scored by seniors.

For perspective, in 2022 Harvard was just so dominate, led by Dean Farris, Will Grant and a very deep supporting cast. They swept all 5 relays and had 8 individual event champions. Comparing 2025 vs 2022, Yale has had the biggest surge, earning 424 more points than three years ago. Harvard came down 334 points and Penn actually came down the most (364 pts). Cornell and Dartmouth have also enjoyed big improvements. Princeton actually earned 162 points less than 3 years ago.
Comparing Harvard and Princeton, three years ago Harvard beat Princeton in 9 out of 14 individual events and 5 out of 5 relays in 2022. This year it was Princeton winning 8 of 14 individual events while… Read more »

Princeton outscored Harvard 83-16 in the 1650. In the 100 free, Harvard put up a whopping 94 points with 5 swimmers scoring while Princeton managed to score 60 with only 3 swimmers scoring including the event champion Dinu. The Tigers win the meet with a solid margin of 67.5 points and that’s with a DQ in the 200 FR relay.

The article shows the A cut as 2:50.44. Is that incorrect?

It is incorrect. The live results had the wrong standards on them. I fixed that one.

Four conference records, including a Dean Farris record tie, and two sub-1:50 200 breastrokes. Ivy League Champs is lit. Also, that boy Noah Millard is cut from a different cloth.
